I Know Mom Is in Good Hands.

The staff at Green Acres Manor took the time to listen and understand what my mom actually needs. They’re dependable, quick to respond and always follow through. The care she receives has been excellent, and I don’t have to spend my time worrying about whether she’s being looked after properly.

Always Helpful.

The staff at Green Acres Manor are always cheerful and happy to help with whatever I need. They’re friendly, well-presented and professional, but never make things feel too formal.

Watering the plants settled him when nothing else would.

My father Harold spent his working life as a landscaper, and even now, with early-stage dementia, his hands still know what to do in a garden. That's part of why we chose Green Acres Manor for him eight months ago. He'd started forgetting his medication, and once or twice he left the house without telling anyone, so we wanted somewhere secure with personal attention and space to be outdoors. I worried about how he'd take it. Harold doesn't like being corrected, and he hates having decisions made for him. What reassured me early was that the staff asked about him first. They wanted to know about his work, his hobbies and his usual routine, and we filled his room with gardening photos and familiar belongings. The way they handle his harder moments is what's stayed with me. One afternoon he got restless, and instead of talking him down, a caregiver asked if he'd help water some plants. He had something familiar to focus on, and he settled on his own. When he gets confused, they redirect him calmly, without arguing or making him feel foolish. It wasn't smooth at first. He refused group activities and kept asking to go home. Rather than push, they started with one-on-one activities tied to gardening and slowly eased him toward small groups. I get regular updates about his mood, appetite and what he's taken part in. He seems calmer now, keeps a steadier routine, and has come to trust a few of the regular caregivers. If I could tell another family one thing, it's to find somewhere that sees the person behind the dementia, not just the diagnosis.

When my mother Elena moved into Green Acres Manor ten months ago, she wasn't looking for anything grand.

She wanted a smaller place where she could get help without feeling like she was living in a hospital. At 82, with arthritis, she needs a hand with her medication, bathing and getting dressed, but she's still very much herself, and she was afraid of losing her privacy or being rushed through her mornings. That worry faded fairly quickly. When we moved her in, we brought her favorite chair, her photographs and a few of her plants, and nobody hurried any of it. The staff gave her time to arrange the room the way she wanted, and they actually asked how she likes to start and end her day. It's a small thing, but it told me a lot. The care itself has been patient and respectful. They step in when she needs them and let her do what she safely can on her own, which matters to her. One caregiver noticed she eats better in a quieter spot, so now there's a place saved for her near the window. Someone also picked up that she likes to choose her clothes the night before. Nobody told them to do that; they just paid attention. It hasn't been flawless. One of her cardigans went missing after laundry, but they found it the next day, apologized, and added a clearer label. I hear from them regularly, and I never feel odd about calling with a question. Elena's eating more, moving with more confidence, and spending less time by herself. My advice to other families is to explain the little routines that make your person feel at home. Those details matter. They Always Include Dad.

My mom is the one living at Green Acres Manor, but the staff never forget about my dad. They always include him and make him feel welcome, which means more to our family than they probably realize. Mom is well cared for and the place is always spotless. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind having their cleaning team at my house.
